The 8th International Conference on
Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials

Second Announcement and Call for Papers

September 23- 27, 2012
Kanazawa New Grand Hotel, Kanazawa, Japan

AIMS & SCOPE

The 8th International Conference on Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials (MTDM 2012) will be held in September 2012 in Kanazawa, Japan, following the past seven conferences, namely the 1st at Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 1995, 2nd at Pasadena (USA) in 1997, 3rd at Erlangen (Germany) in 2000, 4th at Lake Placid (USA) in 2003, 5th at Karuizawa (Japan) in 2005, 6th at Monterey (USA) in 2008, and 7th at Portoroz (Slovenia) in 2010.

We are soliciting papers involving constitutive, time (rate)-dependent behavior of all materials. The time-dependent mechanical response should be non-negligible in cases involving non-mechanical fields.
Papers dealing with modeling and experimental aspects of the subject area are sought. Possible topics include, but are not limited to: characterization and modeling of behavior at multiple scales; viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity; transport, chemically and electronically active processes; multiphase and biomaterial systems; thermodynamics; shape memory; mechanics of testing; micro/nanoindentation on time-dependent materials; dynamic rate-dependent behaviors; large deformations; residual stresses; time (rate)-dependent damage and failure; time (rate)-dependent polycrystalline, single crystal and nanocrystalline behaviors; multifunctional materials; mechanics of processing; design methods; environmental interactions; experimental methods and techniques; linear and non-linear time-dependent behavior; time (rate)-dependent composite materials of all types; numerical analysis; physical aging; rheological properties; temperature, pressure, and moisture effects on time dependence; damping; related topics.

CONFERENCE LOCATION

Conference will be held at Kanazawa New Grand Hotel, Kanazawa, Japan.

There are no effects of earthquake and radiation in Kanazawa. Therefore, the travel to Kanazawa is very safe. Kanazawa is away from the hypocenter at 500km and away from the Fukushima nuclear power plant at 400km. You can check the information about Japan Travel Updates after the 3.11 Earthquake at:https://www.jnto.go.jp/eq/eng/04_recovery.htm

CALL FOR PAPERS

The conference will be based on invited lectures, oral presentations, and posters. The deadline for oral submissions in the form of a 1-page abstract (including title, author(s), affiliation(s) and contact information for corresponding author) is March 30, 2012. Submitted abstract will be printed in the conference proceedings. Authors are encouraged to prepare full size papers for publication in the MTDM journal. Please send your 1-page abstract to nakada@neptune.kanazawa-it.ac.jp
